Introduction: Sodium caseinate (CAS#9005-46-3) is the sodium salt of casein, derived from casein as raw material. In colloidal gold immunoassay, it binds to nonspecific sites, eliminating false positives.
Product Introduction
Sodium caseinate (CAS#9005-46-3) is the sodium salt of casein, derived from casein as raw material. Casein is present in animal milk, predominantly in cow's milk, constituting 80% of the milk protein content. It is a soluble calcium phosphate complex with a micellar structure, consisting of α, β, γ, and κ casein variants.
Basic Properties of Sodium Caseinate (CAS#9005-46-3)
White or milky white powder. Odorless, tasteless, or slightly distinctive aroma and taste. Easily soluble or dispersible in water, with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 in aqueous solution. Its solution forms casein precipitation when exposed to acid. It does not clot when heated at 94°C for 10 seconds or 121°C for 5 seconds.
Applications of Sodium Caseinate (CAS#9005-46-3) in Colloidal Gold Immunoassay
Sodium caseinate can interfere with electrostatic interactions and, being a protein, binds to nonspecific sites in colloidal gold immunoassays, thereby eliminating false positives. In solution, sodium caseinate exists in a dispersed state, exhibiting a repulsive effect on gold standard complexes, increasing their dispersion, and thus maintaining the colloidal stability of gold particles.
Other Uses of Sodium Caseinate (CAS#9005-46-3)
Preparation of feed based on casein for studying the nutritional impact of vitamin E on the diet of shrimp larvae, Penaeus vannamei.
Assay of enzyme activity in three solutions containing pancreatin, chymotrypsin, and peptidase.
Investigation of nitrogen metabolism in Holstein cattle due to bovine somatotropin (BST) administration and abomasal casein infusion.
Component of sealing solution in immunoprinting.
